Hindu Educational Society established the school under the name “Pillyar Padasalai” and by the grace of Shri Pillayar the school has outlived the expectations of the founders – in fact, branching into – one, Hindu College, Colombo, and the other – Colombo Hindu College at Ratmalana.

Sir John Kotalawala (then Prime Minister of Ceylon) laid foundation for Colombo Hindu college at Ratmalana.

All Post – Primary schools at Pillayar Padasalai were transferred to Colombo Hindu college at Ratmalana.

Mr.N.Satyendra (Barrister - at - Law) was appointed the principal.

Communal riots. The school suffered the first set – back.

The school was vested in the government. Mr.S.Ambalavanar was appointed the principal.

Mr.T.Neethirajah (then senator) laid foundation for the third three – storied building.

Mr.P.Nalliah was appointed the principal. 6th standard classes re – commenced at Bambalapitiya and the school started to function separately from Colombo Hindu college, Ratmalana. This school was named “Hindu Junior School, Bambalapitiya”.

Hon. prime minister R.Premadasa, M.P. declared open the administration block.

His Excellency Precedent J.R.Jayewardene opened a building at this school and also opened Colombo Ramanathan Hindu Ladies’ College (later he was accorded a reception at Saraswathie hall).

Prayer hall block was ceremonially declared open.

Communal riots. School was closed for several months as it was used as a refuee camp.

Classes up to 8th standard were started at Bambalapitiya R.C.T.M. school under the supervision of Mrs.P.Thurairajah. 9th standard and classes above were started at Isipathana M.V. under the supervision of Mrs.K.K.Kankeyan.

Mr.T.Sangaralingam (principal) went abort on leave and Mrs.S.Patkunam (deputy principal) acted for him. Mr.Sangaralingam did not return but retired.
